The big news this month in the world of politics is less to do with Stormont and more of a focus on Westminster. Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, surprised a lot of us with the announcement of a general election on 4 July.

In Northern Ireland we can be less engaged in a general election because we don’t directly decide which party will be in government and who will be the next prime minister.

But in Northern Ireland there are 18 seats up for grabs to represent our interests at Westminster. Those MPs will influence important decision-making about things around the Northern Ireland budget for public services and the benefits system.

Christians across Northern Ireland don’t turn away this election season?

Check out Thinking faithfully about politics, our recently released report, where you’ll find interesting findings from a UK-wide research survey to learn how evangelicals think and act as they engage in politics. You can find the full report and a suite of helpful resources on the Election Hub.
