Welcome to the first Stormont Snapshot of 2025.
As the new year begins, some familiar challenges remain here. Our Health Minister is under intense pressure as the health system struggles with winter demands in emergency departments and social care.
The new year also brings new developments. The Alliance Party has proposed two new Private Member Bills on flags and emblems and conversion therapy. These are open for public response, and we’ll be discussing them in the coming weeks.
Another important development is The Executive Office has launched a programme of research into historical clerical child abuse. They’re inviting victims and survivors to share their experiences.
At the Evangelical Alliance, we are deeply committed to safeguarding children in church settings. We’ve been engaging with the research team and want to encourage churches to spread the word. Please respond, if you or someone you know has a story to share.
Let’s be praying for our health service and staff as they face some dire challenges at the moment and for sensitivity and compassion for those who will share their stories with the Historical Clerical Child Abuse research team.
