Spring is in the air – we have lighter mornings and milder weather. It’s a new season, but what’s new at Stormont?

This week in the Assembly, MLAs once again discussed the safety of women and girls in Northern Ireland. It’s an issue that affects every community and concerns all women and it invites us all to consider our response — not just politicians but all of us.

So, as Christians, what can we do?

For example, a couple of weeks ago, I met with a Christian organisation stepping up to that challenge — working with young men to call them to model Christ-like character in our homes, churches, and communities and to challenge them to have healthy attitudes to women.

Let’s keep praying for vulnerable women in our communities and recognising that this issue is just as prevalent in the church as it is everywhere else. Let’s keep speaking up on issues like domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and catcalling, and keep working for our church communities to be a safe place for women and girls where women are valued as image bearers of God.
