School Connect is Sailors’ Society’s programme for schools and Sunday schools
School Connect is helping children learn about seafarers and the sacrifices they make to bring us the things we use every day.
Children in the Philippines have had to swim a massive 2km to school, 80 swimming pool lengths, arriving for class with their clothes and books drenched.
At best they were wet and tired. But they risked being swept out to sea and at times couldn’t even attempt the journey. Sailors’ Society, a charity based in Southampton, is providing boats to help these children get to school safe and dry — and doing much more to help children learn.
“It’s very hard for a seafarer like me to have such an incident happen to my family while I’m not around. Thank you Sailors’ Society for being there when my family is in need.” — Rodel, Philippines
