The Christian community in northern Nigeria is witnessing what some have called genocide, but it is a genocide that the world largely ignores.
Thousands of believers have been slaughtered over the past few years by Boko Haram terrorists and militant Fulani herdsmen, and many more have been displaced. This year, as the Religious Liberty Commission encourages churches in the UK to pray for persecuted Christians around the world on the International Day of Prayer (IDOP) for the persecuted church, Release International has produced a short presentation, including a written prayer for Nigeria plus prayer points from its partners working in Nigeria.
The presentation is ideal for using in churches on IDOP and throughout the month of November. Release has also made a short film interview with its partner Mark Lipdo of Stefanos Foundation which outlines the current situation for Christians in northern Nigeria. Mark describes it as ‘the peak of persecution’ against Christians. He also explains how Stefanos are helping those affected by trauma and how Christians can pray today for their persecuted brothers and sisters in Nigeria.
