The Evangelical Alliance longs to see Christians in Wales engaging with their public representatives in a productive and encouraging way, but we recognise that sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start.

So our Welsh team has developed Connect, a new resource to help you begin to build relationships with your public representatives and encourage you to pray for and support them as they represent you across Wales.

Connecting with, and praying for, your public representative is more crucial than ever. With the May elections taking place just last week, and Welsh Labour serving for another term, not to mention the toll the coronavirus pandemic will have taken on our political representatives, they need people who stand alongside them, for the sake of all in our nation.

Siân Rees, director of Evangelical Alliance Wales, says: Society has changed greatly over the course of the last two years, whether that’s due to our departure from the EU or the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. What better time than now for Christians to pray for those in the corridors of power and pursue closer engagement with our political representatives on a local and national level?”

The church has the framework and infrastructure required to be at the grassroots of restoring and rebuilding lives and communities. The church has the heart, resources and unique relational networks to love and to serve. In Connect you will find a choice of ways to start to build relationships with your public representatives and the most effective way to engage with them on matters that you care about.

It’s our prayer that these connections and relationships will make a difference to communities all across Wales, and that through them the love of Jesus might be made known. First Timothy 2:1 – 4 says: I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
