A Rocha International this week announced that Dr Simon Stuart has been appointed executive director following the tragic loss of Chris Naylor last year.
Dr Stuart will take up his role at the Christian organisation, which brings together practical conservation action with Christian faith, in December when he’ll step down from his current position as director of strategic conservation at Synchronicity Earth.
Dr Stuart, who has a long history with A Rocha, having served as an A Rocha International trustee between 2000 and 2009, and from 2017 to June 2020, commented, “I am both excited and humbled to be taking this new position with A Rocha International – an organisation I have grown to love over many years.”
News of the appointment comes almost one year after Chris Naylor, former executive director, his wife Susanna, who with him established A Rocha Lebanon, and Miranda Harris, co-founder of A Rocha, died following a car accident in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
A Rocha International commented, “We are grateful to God for providing such an outstanding person to lead A Rocha into a new chapter and to help us rebuild after a difficult and traumatic time.”
