The
“Thinking About…” series, produced by Christians in Science, aims to help the church begin to discuss different issues of science and faith. Each of the
16 titles was written by a Christian who is working in that scientific field, and gives an introduction to how Christians in that field are approaching these different issues. Each title is no more than
1 1/
2 sides of
A4, so is a quick introduction. Written with the Church in mind, these resources are for those who do not necessarily have scientific training but want to know more. Each title also has further suggested reading for you to really get your teeth into! Beginning to think about issues of science and faith can be an excellent evangelism tool for discussions with those friends who
‘don’t do God’ because they are scientifically minded. The resources work really well in small groups as a discussion starter, or can be used to give out at outreach events, or just to stimulate thought among your congregation. Each leaflet outlines the basic science behind the topic, how it relates to the Christian (biblical) understanding of the world and suggests some other resources for those who want to take it further. Titles include:
- the big bang
- bioethics
- creation care
- evolution
- fine tuning
- genes and embryos
- genetic modification
- the historical reception of evolution
- human enhancement
- how we interpret Genesis
- miracles
- natural disasters
- neuroscience
- science and apologetics
- science as a christian vocation
- stem cells
