On a mission to develop disciple-making leaders

7 October 2019Having been appointed to the role of head of ministry operations at Evangelical Alliance member Living Leadership in May this year, it’s clear that the desires of Paul’s heart are God’s too. Paul shares in this interview that he’s been “following step by step the leading of the Spirit” and he’s now responding to God’s will to see Christian leaders raised up to boldly make Jesus known in an increasingly post-Christian context. Some readers will not have heard of Living Leadership. If you could…

Public leadership: Offering a future and a hope

2 September 2019The great commission – Jesus’ instruction to “go and make disciples of all the nations” – has propelled many Christians worldwide to spread the good news of salvation in Jesus. For the Evangelical Alliance, a unity movement formed 173 year ago, the most effective way to do so has always been by working closely with fellow believers. This should go some way towards explaining why in 2014 the Evangelical Alliance launched the Public Leadership initiative. Recognising the influence that Christians…

Men without bars

A daily struggle for some

16 May 2019On Tuesday evening I visited a friend who I’ve known since I was around 18 years old – that’s a good 16 years. As I made my way into her flat, I noticed that the lights were off and, despite it being a bright, sunny day, her curtains, except one, were drawn. I told her I thought it was dark, but she retorted: “Really? I don’t think so.” She didn’t turn on the light. Despite it being only 6.45pm in the evening, and it being quite warm, she was covered in layers of nightclothes. I could see…
