Global attention this week has focused on the approval of a vaccine for COVID-19 in the UK. It is early days but this seems like amazing news which could help save the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. Many questions have been raised about the vaccine — and not just from ‘anti-vaxers’, conspiracy theorists or ‘religious fundamentalists’! There are legitimate concerns and 36% of people in the UK say they are ‘uncertain or very unlikely’ to take the vaccine. There is a lot of confusing information out there and for many people, this is the first time they are really considering the safety and ethics around the development and roll-out of vaccines. That’s why we and our friends at Both Lives Matter have organised a webinar for next week with some trusted voices to help us think ethically as Christians about the vaccine. We will be joined by Professor John Wyatt, Dr Mary Neal and Jennie Pollock from CMF. You can find out more and the webinar, and register, here.
