Prince CaspianReturning to Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (PG) hits the big screen on the 26th June. The adaptation of the second book in CS Lewis’ series sees the Pevensie children pulled back into Narnia.

SCYWFThe Evangelical Alliance Scotland recently co-hosted a preview screening of the film with SCYWF (Scottish Christian Youth Workers Forum). The screening was an opportunity for church and youth leaders to engage with the evangelistic opportunities of the film before its general release, while also hearing about some of the resources that have been produced by Alliance member organisation, Damaris. These resources explore the issues raised in the film and are tailored to Schools and Churches.

Douglas Gresham, stepson of CS Lewis, said: “One of the strongest messages that we see in the movie and the book, is that no matter how far away we stray there is always one way back”

Welcome
"Don't be a stranger." Many of us will be saying this affectionately to our families and friends this Christmas as we part company with them after spending time together. But Jesus doesn't ask us just to love those we would naturally share Christmas dinner with – instead, he challenges us to re-evaluate who our neighbours are and to welcome those we consider to be strangers. Migration is one of the biggest media and political issues facing Britain today, and in this time of economic uncertainty the tensions surrounding the issue are likely to become even more apparent. The Evangelical Alliance's Don't be a Stranger campaign aims to remind us, and the nation, of the Judeo-Christian injunction to help the stranger.
