Press release

1,000 people sign up for Marriage Week’s main event

Marriage Week's main event sells out as 1000 people sign up to hear why church is best placed to support marriage.

Talk Marriage, the main event of Marriage Week 2012, will propose why marriage is vital for families and society, encourage couples to build lasting relationships and tackle the myth that cohabitation is as good as marriage.

The event will be hosted by Steve Clifford, general director of the Evangelical Alliance. He will be joined by Les Isaac of Street Pastors, Edmund Adamus, Marriage and Family Life Coordinator of the Diocese of Westminster, and Harry Benson of Bristol Family Trust whose academic research has contributed to the Centre for Social Justice's report on family breakdown.

Steve Clifford says: "One thousand people signing up just shows how keen people are to see their church take centre stage in promoting marriages as vital to a healthy society."

Talk Marriage:
Tuesday 7 February 6 - 8:30pm at Emmanuel Centre, 9-23 MARSHAM STREET, LONDON SW1P 3DW

Notes to Editors

The Evangelical Alliance
We are the largest and oldest body representing the UK’s two million evangelical Christians. For more than 165 years, we have been bringing Christians together and helping them listen to, and be heard by, the government, media and society. We’re here to connect people for a shared mission, whether it’s celebrating the Bible, making a difference in our communities or lobbying the government for a better society. From Skye to Southampton, from Coleraine to Cardiff, we work across 79 denominations, 3,500 churches, 750 organisations and thousands of individual members. And we're not just uniting Christians within the UK – we are a founding member of the World Evangelical Alliance, a global network of more than 600 million evangelical Christians.
