Gavin Calver becomes chair of Spring Harvest

Spring Harvest announced today that the Evangelical Alliance's director of mission, Gavin Calver, will be taking over as chair of the planning group.

Alongside his regular duties leading the Alliance's unity for mission team, Gavin will be responsible for inviting speakers to Spring Harvest and devising the gathering's programme.

Malcolm Duncan, the previous chair, will continue to play an active role as deputy chair.

Gavin said: "As the son of one of the founders I'm very much aware of my family heritage when it comes to Spring Harvest. I hope that my unique perspective on this will help me to serve Spring Harvest well."

At 37 years old, Gavin said he's grateful to have the wisdom of so many others around him to "journey forward together".

He said: "I'm also aware that I'm going to be privileged to lead a strong team that's already in place and am particularly thankful to Malcolm Duncan for his help and support at this stage."

Speaking today as the news was announced, Gavin went on: "I'm both humbled and delighted to take on this new role.

"Spring Harvest has a wonderful history and I want it to be a place of real evangelical unity where many different Christian groups can come together to worship our amazing God and be inspired to change our world for Him.

"I also want us to innovate and model things at our larger gatherings that can then be used to serve the local church on the ground."
