Christians in Sport launch 2012 quiz

Christians in Sport have produced an exciting new resource for churches ahead of the Olympics. Launched on 2 December, the 2012 Sports Quiz is an evangelistic guest event created for local churches across the UK to host before and during the Games.

A team of trained speakers will be available from 1 March 2012, to both host the quiz and deliver an evangelistic talk relevant to sportspeople. To accommodate the anticipated excess demand a 2012 Sports Quiz DVD package will also be available for churches to use, complete with a ten-minute filmed evangelistic talk and six-round sports quiz.
The resource is free but donations are welcomed. Included within the pack is downloadable publicity - as well as a guide on how to make the most of the quiz night.

James Fletcher, curate at St Nicholas Tooting commented: "We are a church that struggles to do evangelism but, somehow, people seem to find the Christians in Sport quizzes an easy thing to invite people to and, now that we have had three, have gained a real confidence that they will be good events and won't be embarrassing whilst preaching the gospel really clearly.' St Nicholas Tooting hosted two of the 505 guest events delivered by Christians in Sport last year.

This is just one way Christians in Sport are looking to support local churches in 2012. More than 10 million people play and coach in sports clubs across the UK and it is hoped that churches will use the quiz event to share the gospel with sportspeople in their local communities.

David Wilson, CEO of More Than Gold added: 'For churches wanting to reach out - especially to sportspeople - they could not have a better resource. It's highly professional, engaging and is as easy to run as falling off a log.'
