Krish Kandiah addresses young people at 2008 New Wine Conference

How do we make sure our ambitions in life match God’s plans for the future? That was the question Krish Kandiah asked 1,200 14-18 year olds at this year’s New Wine conference.

New Wine is just one of the Christian conferences which is currently in full flow. Krish also shared insights from his book, Destiny, which showed how God’s plans for the future can have an impact on how we live each day.

The youth programme, headed up this year by Paul Unsworth, is called ‘Thirst.’ It exists to see young people passionate about Jesus and rooted in his love - giving them a firm foundation for the rest of their lives. It includes worship and teaching and there are also youth cafes, practical workshops, sports and gigs.

The young people have looked at issues such as justice, guidance and healing. This year, the youth leaders have been excited to see many teenagers becoming Christians, praying for healing and encouraging each other in their faith in Jesus.

Krish said: “It was a great privilege to take part in the ‘Thirst’ youth programme this year.  At the end of the week, it was really amazing to see hundreds of young people praying for one another.” He continued: “I prayed personally with six young people all wanting God to relight their passion for him and asking for confidence to share their faith at school.”
