We are committed to praying regularly for the appointment of a new General Director of the Evangelical Alliance and we want to encourage you (and your church/organisation) to join with us in that. In particular our staff will be praying about this on the first day of each month and we invite you to put time aside to pray on the same days. Please see our prayer pointers below.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Prayer Points
- Give thanks for the response to the consultation process that has been taking place, and the positive feedback we have received, both about the strategic importance of the Alliance, and also about the next General Director
- Pray for the Board as they work on the job description for the next General Director – that they have a clear sense of where God is leading, and that what is produced is clear and creative.
- The Board are setting up an Appointment Committee – pray for clarity about the right people to serve on that, who can reflect the breadth of the evangelical constituency.
- Pray for the advertising as that takes place (in the early autumn) that we would ensure that we communicate the opportunity as widely as possible.
- Give thanks for the interest that there is in who will be the next General Director –and for the names that have already been suggested. Pray for wisdom in discerning how we should approach them.
- Pray for the Directors who will carry the leadership of the Alliance during the interregnum – that they would work well together, and provide a clear lead.
- Pray for wisdom in ensuring that the key roles that Joel has been carrying out are covered by others in the Alliance, and that they would have the capacity and skill to step up to the plate in those areas.
- Pray for the whole staff team, in the nations and in Whitefield House, that our trust would be in Jesus, and our eyes firmly fixed on him in the months that lie ahead.
- Pray that we are able to make the right appointment in the autumn – and that God would be preparing the person of His calling even now for the role.
